The Old Tavern
A warm medieval fantasy tavern on a rainy evening, candles lit and the hearth roaring.
About The Old Tavern
The road outside is dark and wet, but inside the old tavern the hearth is roaring. Candles gutter on heavy wooden tables, rain drums on the shutters, and somewhere a lute picks out an old melody. Gentle fantasy folk for long evenings of reading, writing and dreaming up other worlds.
The last travellers have gone up to bed. Heavy oak beams hold the low ceiling, candles gutter on the tables, and the hearth burns bright against the stone wall. Outside, rain drums on the small leaded windows and the road is dark and empty.
The music is gentle fantasy folk: lute, wooden flute, harp and soft strings, slowed into long, calm pieces, with the fire crackling and the storm outside. There are no voices and no lively dances. It is a fireside for readers, writers and game masters, or for anyone who simply wants to rest somewhere warm.
